The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) has donated K7.8 million to the Mzuzu Viphya Lions Club to support an upcoming free medical screening campaign focused on eyesight, diabetes, and mental health.
The outreach programme, scheduled for May 30 in Rumphi, aims to provide essential health services to more than 1,000 people, including children, elderly individuals, and persons living with disabilities at St. Magdalena Centre.
Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony, MAGLA Director of Finance and Administration, Dumbo Muwalo, stated that the donation underscores MAGLA’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its continued efforts to give back to communities through impactful social initiatives.
“We remain committed to supporting initiatives that improve the wellbeing of vulnerable groups and strengthen access to essential health services,” he said.
In her remarks, Mzuzu Viphya Lions Club Treasurer, Pauline Chagonapanja Drennon, expressed appreciation to MAGLA for the partnership and generous support, noting that the contribution will significantly enhance the success and reach of the medical outreach programme.
The campaign is expected to strengthen community health awareness while providing critical early detection services for common but preventable conditions.
