Limpopo Gambling Board Reviews Regulatory Priorities for 2027/28

The Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB) has concluded a two-day strategic planning session aimed at strengthening organizational performance and establishing key priorities for the 2027/28 financial year. Held from 8 to 9 October 2026, the session focused on aligning the Board’s strategic objectives with government priorities, shareholder expectations and developments in the gambling industry.

Discussions covered several areas critical to the Board’s regulatory responsibilities and long-term sustainability, including industry revenue trends, legislative developments, financial sustainability, governance, risk management and improvements to internal controls.

The session also examined opportunities to modernize information and communication technology (ICT) systems, improve procurement efficiency and introduce innovative approaches to strengthen regulatory effectiveness and operational performance.

Participants reviewed the Board’s performance, identified strategic interventions and considered measurable targets to address emerging challenges within the gambling sector. The planning session brought together the LGB Board and officials, alongside representatives from key government institutions and industry stakeholders.

These included the Office of the Premier, the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Limpopo Provincial Treasury, the South African Police Service (SAPS), the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) and the National Gambling Board (NGB).

The participation of these institutions underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in strengthening gambling regulation, promoting responsible gambling and supporting effective governance.

Through the strategic planning process, the Limpopo Gambling Board reaffirmed its commitment to accountable leadership, effective regulatory oversight and contributing to the economic development of Limpopo. The outcomes of the session are expected to guide the Board’s priorities and strategic interventions for the 2027/28 financial year.
