The Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER) concluded Day 2 of its Strategic Planning Session, focusing on enhancing its regulatory posture, organizational efficiency, and service excellence in the gambling and liquor sectors. This session is part of MER’s multi-day strategic review aimed at positioning the organization as a modern, responsive, and community-focused regulator.
Building on Day 1 outcomes, the discussions centered on enhancing systems, strengthening compliance mechanisms, and increasing public engagement to support safer and more responsible environments across the province.

- Strengthening Compliance & Audit Functions
MER highlighted the importance of bolstering compliance monitoring and internal audit processes to ensure consistent adherence to regulations and transparent oversight across all licensed operators. - Branding, Marketing & Public Awareness
The session emphasized public education as vital in promoting responsible gambling and liquor trade. Enhanced outreach initiatives will help protect communities and ensure industry compliance. - ICT & Records Management Enhancement
