The Responsible Gambling team from the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) held a sensitisation session at Masindi Secondary School to raise awareness about the risks of underage gambling.

Using interactive discussions, real-life scenarios, and active student participation, the session stressed a key point: gaming especially betting can harm young people’s concentration and academic performance.

“As a school, we need our learners to maintain a focused and disciplined mindset. If their attention becomes preoccupied with activities such as betting, it will inevitably affect their concentration and hinder their academic progress,” said Agnes Nakazibwe, Head Teacher of Masindi Secondary School.

The visit is part of NLGRB’s wider national initiative to curb underage gaming and promote responsible play. By engaging directly with schools, the Board aims to build early awareness among students, empower young people to make informed choices, support educators in protecting learners, and foster a culture of discipline and focus.

Protecting Uganda’s future starts with protecting its youth. NLGRB urges parents, teachers, community leaders, and industry stakeholders to work together to reinforce these messages and create safer environments for children.
