In a pivotal move for the nation’s gambling industry, the Botswana Gambling Authority, led by its Board Chairperson, Mr. Marvin Torto, has announced the successful completion of the licensing process for Bookmaker and Totalisator operations.
After a rigorous and transparent three-day evaluation, 10 companies have been granted licenses to operate within the country, promising to bring positive economic impacts, job creation, and a commitment to responsible gambling practices.
“This milestone aligns with Vision 2036 and His Excellency, President Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi’s Reset Agenda, driving innovation and sustainable growth in our gambling industry,” stated Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Botswana Gambling Authority.
The licensing process, which was open and competitive, aimed to strengthen the regulatory framework and ensure the industry’s alignment with national development priorities. The successful applicants will now be able to provide a range of gambling services, from sports betting to totalisator operations, to the people of Botswana.
