A woman has visited the church of Prophet Ogyaba, founder of the Holiness of Christ Zion Ministry, to testify and thank God after reportedly winning millions of Ghana cedis through sports betting.

The woman said the reported win came after a prophecy she heard at the church, which she believes preceded her financial breakthrough.

Speaking during a live church service, she claimed that the balance in her betting account, which was denominated in foreign currency, was equivalent to approximately GH¢1.1 million, or 11 billion old Ghana cedis.

She explained that her children had previously been involved in sports betting before she decided to participate after hearing the prophecy.

According to the woman, she subsequently gave money to her children to help her place bets. She said she began recording a series of wins, with the winnings eventually bringing the balance in her betting account close to 11 billion old cedis.

Prophet Ogyaba reportedly confirmed that he had previously made a prophecy about someone winning money through sports betting at the church. He subsequently asked the woman to meet with him after the service.

During the testimony, the visibly excited woman handed her phone to one of the church’s Masters of Ceremony (MCs), who examined the betting account to verify the amount displayed on the device.

The testimony attracted attention among members of the congregation as the woman expressed gratitude to God for what she described as a major financial breakthrough following the prophecy.

The reported win comes within Ghana’s regulated gaming environment. The Gaming Commission of Ghana is responsible for regulating, controlling, monitoring and supervising games of chance in the country, including licensing gaming operators.

The Commission also advises bettors to use licensed gaming operators and provides responsible gaming guidance, including setting limits and avoiding betting when upset or stressed.

However, the woman’s reported GH¢1.1 million winnings and the circumstances surrounding the claimed payout were presented as part of her testimony and have not been independently verified.

The testimony has nonetheless drawn attention online, particularly because of the woman’s claim that her betting success followed the prophecy she received at the church.
