Google Ads has expanded online gambling advertising eligibility in Nigeria to Enugu and Imo. From October 14, 2026, operators licensed in either state can apply to advertise eligible products, bringing the number of eligible states from four to six. The previous expansion, in October 2025, added Cross River, Ekiti and Oyo to Lagos.
Advertisers must meet the licensing requirements of every state they target. Those targeting Enugu must submit a license from the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission (ESGLC); those targeting Imo must provide a license from the Imo State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (ISLGA). A license in one state does not satisfy Google’s requirements for another.
Google permits ads for online gambling content licensed by the appropriate authority in an eligible state. Permitted categories include bingo, sports betting, fantasy sports, lotteries, online casino games and online games. Operators must also obtain Google certification before running campaigns.
The change applies only to advertising eligibility on Google Ads. It does not replace state licensing requirements: operators must hold the relevant state license and receive Google’s certification before advertising eligible products.
