The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged murder of Anuoluwapo Abiodun, a betting agent, by a police officer.
According to reports, the incident occurred at the entrance of Abiodun’s shop in the Imala Elega area of the state. Abiodun, a graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, was reportedly shot by a trigger-happy police officer.
Eyewitnesses stated that the officer, who was accused of being intoxicated, fled the scene with the support of his colleagues. The officers allegedly fired shots sporadically to disperse the protesting youths in the area.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, had initiated an investigation. Odutola also said the commissioner was engaging with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a thorough probe into the matter.
The death of Anuoluwapo Abiodun has sparked outrage and protests from residents of the community. They are demanding justice, accountability, and a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
