On December 7, 2024, President William Ruto officially launched the EALA Games, marking a significant event in the realm of regional sports. The launch was celebrated with enthusiasm as it aims to foster collaboration among East African nations.

Mchezo Managing Director Ntoudi Mouyelo highlighted the progress made since last year’s games, stating, “On the sidelines of these games, we had productive meetings with some leading sports federations in the region, such as the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) and the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA).”

Mouyelo expressed satisfaction in announcing that these two federations have become partners, collaborating to ensure that the benefits of sponsorship reach sportsmen and women directly through their innovative Locker Room Bonus initiative. This initiative is designed to support athletes and enhance their participation in sports.

The EALA Games are set to become a pivotal platform for promoting sports in the region and strengthening ties among member states.
