A woman has claimed the incredible R124 million SA Powerball jackpot from the draw. The National Lottery Ithuba announced that the winning ticket was purchased through the Absa Banking App with a wager of R37.50. The numbers were selected manually.
The winner visited the Ithuba offices in Johannesburg to complete the claim process. She shared her experience. “I kept seeing calls from unknown numbers but thought it was telesales, so I ignored them at first. Then I finally answered, it was my bank advising me to report to the nearest Ithuba office because I had won some money. They didn’t tell me the exact amount. It was only when I arrived at Ithuba that I learned I won a jackpot. I am still in shock.”
She emphasize on how the win is going to change her life. “My husband has been unemployed for a few years, so we’ve been living on one income; it’s been a tough, hand-to-mouth situation. Now everything will change. I wish my parents were still here; there’s so much I would have wanted to do for them.” She also plans to rebuild her house and finally fulfill her dream of owning a car.
