Supreme Court of Nigeria Nullifies National Lottery Act and NLRC, Empowering Lagos State to Regulate Gaming

ON THE SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT NULLYFING THE NATIONAL LOTTERY ACT and NATIONAL LOTTERY REGULATORY COMMISSION (NLRC)

In a historic and unanimous ruling delivered on November 22, 2024, the Supreme Court of Nigeria upheld all 11 reliefs sought by the Lagos State Government. This landmark judgment effectively nullifies the National Lottery Act and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), reinforcing the constitutional authority of states to regulate gaming within their jurisdictions.

We urge all gaming operators and stakeholders to take note of this judgment and ensure full compliance with the operational procedures mandated by Lagos State laws. Non-compliance with these regulations will no longer be tolerated.
