The North West Gambling Board (NWGB), in collaboration with the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF), Consumer Affairs and Liquor Regulators, has taken its responsible gambling awareness campaign to patrons in Rustenburg.
The outreach was held at Tic Tac Slots, where stakeholders engaged directly with patrons on the importance of responsible gambling and making informed decisions.
The campaign focused on encouraging individuals to view gambling as entertainment while ensuring it does not negatively affect their financial well-being or future.
During the engagement, patrons received information on understanding and setting gambling limits, making informed choices, protecting their finances, and understanding their rights and responsibilities as gambling consumers.
The outreach also highlighted the importance of recognizing signs that gambling may be becoming difficult to control and knowing where to seek professional support.
The SARGF reminded patrons that free and confidential counseling services are available to individuals experiencing gambling-related challenges. The foundation operates a 24-hour toll-free counseling line at 0800 006 008, while support is also available via WhatsApp on 076 675 0710.
According to the organizers, patrons actively participated in the engagement, highlighting the importance of taking responsible gambling awareness initiatives directly into communities and gambling environments.
The campaign reinforces the message that gambling should remain an entertainment activity and should not come at the expense of individuals financial security or future.
The NWGB and SARGF continue to promote responsible gambling practices and encourage individuals who may be struggling to control their gambling to seek help and support.
