ICE Barcelona Announces World Nineball Event as World Grand Prix Debuts in Spain

World Nineball Tour has partnered with WorldGaming and ICE Barcelona to bring world-class nine-ball to the world’s biggest gaming, technology, and entertainment event.

The World Nineball Tour is set to return to Spain in 2027 with the inaugural World Grand Prix, taking place from 18–20 January at ICE Barcelona (Fira Barcelona Gran Via).

A new World Nineball Tour Major will be part of a landmark partnership between Matchroom and WorldGaming, with the World Grand Prix staged alongside ICE Barcelona described as the world’s largest international event for the gaming technology industry.

The event will bring professional nine-ball to a global audience of industry leaders and visitors from across gaming, technology, and entertainment. For three days, the World Nineball Tour will run alongside ICE Barcelona in the heart of Catalonia’s capital.

The World Grand Prix will feature 64 players competing in a single-elimination format across eight tables, with a total prize fund of $100,000.

With sports betting now one of the fastest-growing areas at ICE and the show floor hosting operators, suppliers, and data providers that power wagering on sport worldwide the World Grand Prix is designed to deliver live elite competition directly to the people building the global sports betting experience.

According to the organizers, the partnership also reflects ICE’s expanding role at the intersection of sport, betting, and entertainment, where sport is increasingly central to audience engagement across the gaming industry.

Margaret Dunn, Portfolio Director responsible for ICE Barcelona, said that ICE is known for bringing together leading names in gaming, creating strong networking opportunities, and delivering memorable live experiences. She added that introducing elite nine-ball to the show floor gives ICE’s audience a chance to experience the sport at its source.

Matchroom Multi Sport CEO Emily Frazer said Matchroom is excited to bring the World Nineball Tour back to Spain and launch the World Grand Prix in Barcelona alongside WorldGaming and ICE Barcelona. She described the event as a chance to grow nine-ball and reach a new audience through the partnership.

Dunn and Frazer also said the World Grand Prix’s format and prize fund will make it a major attraction for ICE 2027. The World Grand Prix will run 18–20 January 2027. Details on the player field, broadcast coverage, schedule, and tickets will be announced later.
