EthSwitch and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) have held discussions on strengthening collaboration to expand the adoption of instant digital payments and integrate them into everyday transactions across Ethiopia.
The meeting, held at EthSwitch’s headquarters, focused on increasing the use of EthioPay Instant Payment services among individuals, businesses and public institutions.
The proposed collaboration covers a range of interoperable digital payment solutions, including person-to-person (P2P) transfers, ETHQR payments, government payments, merchant payments, bulk payments, mandate payments, Request to Pay and Open Finance.
Through the expanded adoption of these services, the two institutions aim to make digital transactions more accessible, convenient and efficient while supporting the continued development of Ethiopia’s digital payments ecosystem.
EthSwitch said it would continue engaging with other financial institutions to broaden the adoption of instant payment services nationwide, supporting greater interoperability and the growth of digital financial services across the country.
