The Burkina Faso’s National Lottery (LONAB) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national sports development in Burkina Faso as the official sponsor of the 37th edition of the Tour du Faso cycling competition. The announcement was made during a press conference held on October 21, 2026, at Stade du 4-Août, where organizers outlined preparations for the international cycling event.
Representing LONAB’s Director General, technical adviser Eugène Thiombiano attended the conference alongside members of the National Organizing Committee, event partners and media representatives. During the meeting, Thiombiano reiterated LONAB’s longstanding commitment to the Tour du Faso, describing the competition as an important sporting and cultural event that showcases Burkina Faso to national and international audiences.
He explained that the national lottery would continue supporting the competition through revenues generated from its activities, in line with its broader mission to contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development. As part of its sponsorship, LONAB will associate its brand with the race’s prestigious yellow jersey, worn by the overall leader. The lottery operator will also sponsor the final stage, which will conclude in Ouagadougou.
Organizers announced that the 2026 edition will feature 10 stages, with approximately a dozen African and international teams expected to participate. Several initiatives are also planned to enhance public engagement, including a promotional caravan, a team presentation at the Thomas Sankara Memorial and additional activities designed to strengthen the connection between spectators and cycling.
LONAB’s continued involvement reflects its commitment to promoting sporting excellence, social cohesion and national development through support for major sporting events. The sponsorship also reinforces the lottery operator’s broader social responsibility objectives, with the Tour du Faso serving as a platform to celebrate Burkina Faso’s sporting talent and strengthen the country’s profile as a host of international cycling competitions.
