In an exciting development, Mr. Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe has officially been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gambling Authority by the distinguished Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Mmusi Kgafela.
Mr. Kesitilwe, who has been serving in an interim capacity since September 2022, steps into his role with a wealth of experience and a commitment to leading the Gambling Authority into a new era of success.
A Leader with a Distinguished Background
Boasting a distinguished academic and professional background, Mr. Kesitilwe holds the esteemed titles of Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA), and Global Chartered Management Accountant (CGMA).
With over 18 years of professional experience, including an impressive 11 years at the Executive level, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of both large state-owned and private companies in Botswana and the wider region.
Academic Achievements and Commitment to Excellence
Mr. Kesitilwe’s academic journey includes the completion of an MSc in Strategic Business Management from the esteemed Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, he holds certifications from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting, and AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) from the Botswana Accountancy College (BAC).
His dedication to continuous improvement is evident through his active participation in various courses,
including “Being a Director” with the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA), Corporate Governance – King IV, and the revised Code of and Report on Governance Principles for South Africa (King III).

Having previously served as the founding Chief Financial and Administration Officer (CFAO) of the Authority, Mr. Kesitilwe brings invaluable experience from key positions at Boitekanelo College, the Local Enterprises Authority (LEA), Botswana Savings Bank (BSB), and African Alliance (AL).
His strategic vision, unwavering commitment to excellence, and profound understanding of the gambling industry position him as the ideal candidate to guide the Gambling Authority into its next phase of growth and development.

Mr. Kesitilwe’s influence extends beyond borders, as demonstrated by his participation as a speaker at prestigious international conferences, including ICE VOX London 2023, the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) Botswana Conference 2023, and the International Gaming Conference 2023 in Lagos, Nigeria.
