LottoStar's Impact R3.8 million for South Africa's Critical Causes

LottoStar has once again demonstrated that its influence extends far beyond life-changing wins. In the past three months alone, the company has contributed over R3.8 million to transform vital causes across South Africa, supporting critical healthcare initiatives, urgent surgical care, and donor advocacy.

At LottoStar, charity is a privilege, not an obligation. Through strategic partnerships, purpose-driven campaigns, and its dedicated social impact platform, The Star Foundation, LottoStar continues to redefine corporate social responsibility in the gaming sector.

Through the popular Money Madness competition in partnership with KFM, LottoStar raised R1,067,500 for Save7, an organization reshaping the narrative around organ donation in South Africa. The funds raised went directly toward establishing the LifePod, a dedicated ICU unit for organ donors, ensuring the highest standard of care in a donor’s final moments.

Save7’s innovative Time Capsule initiative empowers individuals to record and preserve their organ donation wishes in a deeply personal way. “Thanks to LottoStar and its players, more lives will be saved, more families restored, and more futures made possible,” said a Save7 representative.

During LottoStar’s Fortune Frenzy campaign with Jacaranda FM, R1,024,000 was raised for the station’s initiative, Good Morning Angels. A portion of the funds R697,000 was used to acquire a cutting-edge laser treatment machine for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, providing advanced care for young burn victims.

The remaining funds continue to support various urgent aid initiatives, offering a lifeline to individuals and communities in need. “These aren’t just donations; they’re declarations of hope, healing, and humanity,” said a Jacaranda FM spokesperson.

Recognizing the pressing need for timely surgical intervention in public hospitals, LottoStar contributed R1.8 million to Groote Schuur Hospital’s Emergency Fund for Emergency Surgery (EFES). This donation will fund 70 additional emergency theatre lists over the next year, prioritizing weekends and public holidays when trauma cases peak.

It directly addresses surgical delays that can have life-or-death consequences for patients suffering from violence, trauma, or accidents. “This contribution will dramatically reduce waiting times for emergency surgeries and could save countless lives,” said Groote Schuur Hospital management.

All of LottoStar’s philanthropic efforts are driven through The Star Foundation, a platform built on the belief that we rise by lifting others. Whether in healthcare, education, food security, or emergency relief, the foundation partners with purpose-led organizations to deliver sustainable, measurable change

“To our players, partners, and communities—thank you,” said a LottoStar spokesperson. “You’ve helped us turn winnings into something far more meaningful. Together, we’re not just changing lives; we’re restoring dignity, igniting hope, and uplifting a nation.”
