SportPesa has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with key football stakeholders to elevate the SportPesa League to global standard, as part of its 10-years partnership with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
The commitment was underscored during a recent stakeholder engagement forum that brought together participating clubs, FKF representatives, broadcast partners, media, match officials, and safety officers. The meeting focused on aligning all stakeholders on a shared roadmap for the continued development and professionalization of the league.
Since its launch, the SportPesa League has demonstrated strong competitiveness, improved branding, and growing fan interest. SportPesa and its partners noted that efforts are ongoing to address existing operational gaps and further strengthen league organisation, presentation, and the overall matchday experience.
Key discussions centred on benchmarking the league against continental and global standards, enhancing commercialisation and marketing strategies, expanding broadcast reach, improving safety and security at match venues, and accelerating infrastructure development and upgrades. Stakeholders also emphasised the importance of deepening fan engagement across all platforms.
The renewed focus builds on the landmark 10-year sponsorship agreement signed in August 2025 between SportPesa and FKF, valued at KSh 1.12 billion. The partnership, which commenced with the 2025/26 season, is designed to strengthen the competitiveness and financial sustainability of Kenyan football.
Under the agreement, 60 percent of the sponsorship funds are allocated directly to participating clubs as grants to support player development, infrastructure improvement, and professionalization. The remaining 40 percent supports administrative and operational functions within the league structure.
Since 2014, SportPesa has maintained a long-term commitment to sports development across multiple levels, from grassroots initiatives to elite competition. The partnership with FKF remains a central pillar of its broader vision to elevate sporting standards across Africa, foster talent development, and create sustainable opportunities within the sporting ecosystem.
