The newly appointed Director General of the Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA), Muchanankhwaye Mpuluka, has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering strong collaboration with industry stakeholders to promote the growth, compliance, and sustainability of Malawi’s gaming and lotteries sector.
Mpuluka made the remarks during a familiarisation tour of Premier Bet Malawi, one of the country’s leading betting operators, where he emphasized the importance of constructive engagement between the regulator and licensed operators.
“Collaboration between the regulator and operators is key to ensuring compliance, transparency, and sustainable development in the industry,” Mpuluka said. “Our goal is to build a gaming sector that is responsible, well-regulated, and beneficial to all stakeholders.”
The visit brought together senior officials from both MAGLA and Premier Bet Malawi, providing a platform for open dialogue on regulatory expectations, operational standards, and the long-term future of Malawi’s gaming and lotteries industry.
As part of the engagement, Mpuluka toured Premier Bet Malawi’s head office and its Gaming Centre in Limbe, Blantyre. The facility features modern systems designed to enhance regulatory compliance, promote transparency, and support responsible gaming practices. Welcoming the visit, Premier Bet Malawi Community Manager Hamza Mgaye highlighted the importance of continued engagement between regulators and operators.
“Such visits are essential in aligning industry practices with regulatory standards while also fostering growth and strengthening public trust,” Mgaye said. The familiarisation tour marks an important milestone in reinforcing partnerships aimed at advancing Malawi’s gaming sector, while ensuring it remains transparent, compliant, and socially responsible.
