Africa’s leading sports betting and gaming brand, betPawa, has entered a one-year sponsorship agreement worth ₦494 million with the Nigeria National League (NNL). This partnership introduces the Locker Room Bonus, a groundbreaking system that rewards players directly for their victories.

Unlike traditional sponsorships that often overlook players, this initiative places athletes at the forefront. Every winning player in the NNL will receive ₦56,000 directly into their mobile money wallets within minutes after the final whistle. Additionally, the NNL will earn ₦400,000 for each match played every weekend, providing a financial boost for both players and the league.

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to retain talent in the domestic league: “One of my major concerns has been how to keep our best players in the league. This is the way forward, and it will reflect positively on the growth of the game in Nigeria.”

NNL Chairman, George Aluo, praised the partnership, commending the NFF leadership for focusing on grassroots football and recognizing the impressive performance of NNL clubs promoted to the NPFL in recent years.

Philip Shaibu, Director-General of the National Institute of Sports, described the deal as a morale booster for players: “This partnership will inspire players to give their best and have a positive impact on the league and the overall development of the game.”
