In a groundbreaking move aimed at fostering the growth of futsal in Uganda, betPawa Uganda has officially launched its partnership with the Futsal Association of Uganda, solidifying their commitment to the burgeoning indoor football game.

This initiative follows the sponsorship agreement signed in September with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), where betPawa became the title sponsor for three football properties, including the futsal league.

Under this innovative sponsorship deal, betPawa is set to play a pivotal role in amplifying the Futsal Association of Uganda’s brand identity, targeting players, coaches, club owners, fans, and international organizations with a keen interest in the sport.

Ivy Igunduura, betPawa’s Country Marketing Manager, expressed the partnership’s objective of expanding the vision for futsal’s growth in Uganda.

“As Uganda’s official football partner, our collaboration with the federation is focused on creating equal opportunities for both well-established and nascent leagues.

Today, we unveil our plans for futsal, intending to work closely with the Ugandan futsal community to develop initiatives that promote the game’s growth and development,” said Igunduura.

A significant highlight of betPawa’s engagement is the introduction of the betPawa Locker Room Bonus (LRB), a mobile money payment awarded to players of the winning team who make the matchday squad.

This bonus, constituting 25% of the value of the UGX 1.18 Billion umbrella deal, will see all players in the squad receiving UGX 150,000 for every fixture their team triumphs during the season.

Igunduura emphasized, “One of the major positives from our engagement will be a direct benefit to the players through the betPawa Locker Room Bonus.”

Furthermore, betPawa is set to enhance the overall experience of the betPawa Futsal League by introducing awards for categories such as the most valuable player of the season, best goalkeeper, coach, player of the season, most assists, and young player of the season.

In a gesture of goodwill, kits were also distributed to all 16 participating teams during the partnership kick-off event.

Hamzah Jjunju, President of the Futsal Association of Uganda, expressed gratitude for betPawa’s support, stating,

“It is truly an honor to have a big brand such as betPawa throw its weight behind a fairly new type of football here in Uganda and Africa.”

Jjunju anticipates a positive ripple effect from betPawa’s support, including the diversification of football talent, an enriched fan experience, infrastructure development, and the opportunity to propel Ugandan futsal onto the global stage.

This partnership marks a significant stride in the collaboration between the betting giant and Ugandan futsal, with potential far-reaching implications for the sport’s trajectory in the region.
