Betway Ghana has made a significant step toward supporting sustainable development in rural communities with the launch of two solar-powered Power Up units in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region. This initiative aims to improve access to reliable electricity and digital connectivity in areas where national grid coverage is limited or unreliable. The Power Up units are independent energy hubs equipped with solar panels, mobile phone charging stations, and energy-efficient LED lighting.
Designed to operate entirely on renewable energy, these units provide residents with a dependable source of power for everyday needs such as lighting after dark, charging mobile devices, and accessing essential digital services for education, communication, and commerce.
The official handover ceremony was attended by community members, traditional authorities, and local leaders, underscoring the project’s importance for the district. The event also reinforced Betway’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its role in supporting grassroots development throughout Ghana.
Speaking at the ceremony, Michael Agyemang, Public Relations and Brand Manager at Betway Ghana, emphasized that the company’s mission extends beyond entertainment. He noted that Betway is dedicated to delivering practical solutions that enhance the quality of life, particularly in underserved communities.

This project falls under the Betway Cares Foundation, the company’s corporate social responsibility platform focused on sustainable energy access, digital inclusion, and community empowerment. Community leaders welcomed the initiative and expressed optimism about its impact.
They highlighted how the availability of lighting and charging facilities will allow students to study after sunset, improve safety at night, and alleviate the daily challenges faced by residents who previously had to travel long distances for electricity.
