The Botswana Gambling Authority Social Club has donated 1,200 litres of intravenous (IV) fluid to Princess Marina Hospital (PMH) to support Botswana’s strained healthcare system. The contribution underscores the Authority’s commitment to social responsibility and the well-being of Batswana.

The handover was led by the Authority’s acting CEO, Mr. Moruntshi Kemorwale, and Social Club Chairman Mr. Tumelo Batshu, along with members of the executive team and Social Club. PMH received the donation through Dr. Tshepo Machacha, Hospital Superintendent; Cheneso Siku, Matron; Mpho Mabuse, Chief Pharmacist; and Keemenao Sampisi, Public Relations Officer.

“Essential medical supplies like IV fluids are critical for frontline healthcare workers to provide timely, life-saving care,” said Dr. Machacha. “We are deeply grateful to the Gambling Authority Social Club for this generous support, which will directly benefit our patients.”

The donation also highlighted a call for health advocacy. Dr. Machacha encouraged the Authority to promote healthy lifestyle choice such as nutritious eating within the organisation to help combat rising rates of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Botswana.

“While our core mandate is regulation, we also recognize our responsibility to the community,” said Mr. Kemorwale. “A healthy nation is the foundation of a thriving, well-regulated society. Through initiatives like this, the Gambling Authority shows its commitment not just to governance but to tangible community impact.”
