The President of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), Andrew Kamanga, has called upon the management of the Zambian Premier League (ZPL) to expedite the process of securing sponsors for the Women’s Super League and National Division One. Kamanga emphasized the urgency of developing women’s football during his address at a women’s football capacity-building workshop held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the women’s league, particularly the lack of sponsorship, Kamanga urged the ZPL management to intensify their efforts to find sponsors for both the National Women’s League and National Division One League. He highlighted the fact that, despite the absence of a sponsor, women’s teams have consistently produced talented players for the national team.
“I am fully aware of the challenges faced by the women’s league, especially in terms of securing sponsorship. The ZPL management should redouble their efforts to find sponsors for the National Women’s League and National Division One League. It is widely known that women’s teams have played a crucial role in nurturing talented players for our national team,” Kamanga stated.
The FAZ president’s call for sponsorship support comes as part of FAZ’s commitment to the development of women’s football in Zambia. Kamanga emphasized the importance of providing adequate resources and investment to ensure the growth and success of women’s football across the country.
The search for sponsors for the Women’s Super League and National Division One is crucial for the sustainability and advancement of women’s football in Zambia. Kamanga’s plea serves as a reminder of the significant contributions made by women’s teams to the overall development of football in the nation.
As FAZ continues to prioritize the empowerment and progress of women’s football, it is hoped that the ZPL management will heed Kamanga’s call and work diligently to secure sponsors who share the vision of supporting and promoting women’s football in Zambia.
