Yonna Group, through its fintech subsidiary Yonna Wallet, has signed a landmark partnership with the Government of The Gambia, represented by the Accountant General’s Department, to digitalize government payments nationwide. The service is now live on the Yonna Wallet app, allowing Gambians to pay for business registration, licenses, rates and other government services securely and conveniently from their smartphones.

The partnership strengthens public financial management by reducing fraud and revenue leakages and improving transparency, while making it easier for citizens and businesses to access government services. It also supports The Gambia’s shift toward a cashless, digitally empowered economy, promoting financial inclusion and modernising public service delivery.

Representatives from Yonna Group highlighted their commitment to digital innovation and inclusion, while the Accountant General’s Department praised the collaboration as a key step in improving efficiency and transparency in government finance.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand The Gambia’s digital payment infrastructure by linking banks, mobile-money operators and fintech platforms. By integrating government services into a widely adopted digital platform, the project aims to make financial services more accessible, reduce dependence on cash and empower citizens to engage with the economy more efficiently.
