New products, compliance and enforcement questions on the agenda at Gaming in Germany Conference
The 2026 Gaming in Germany Conference has announced its full agenda and speaker lineup. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 10, in Berlin. The conference will examine several issues shaping Germany’s regulated iGaming market, including the evaluation of the 2021 State Gambling Treaty, new product opportunities and the industry’s response to offshore competition.
It will also discuss whether a recent court ruling could affect the Joint Gambling Authority of the German States’ (GGL) ability to enforce the ban on unlicensed iGaming. The programme features a keynote by Nadja Wierzejewski, Head of Enforcement at the GGL.
Other sessions include “Player protection, market realities, and effective enforcement,” with Alexander Müller, a member of the FDP Executive Board, and “Beyond compliance: The role of suppliers in building a sustainable German online gambling market,” with Melanie Hainzer, DACH Market Owner at Play’n GO.
A session titled “Prediction markets and sweepstakes: Now coming to Germany?” will feature Dr. Matthias Spitz, Senior Partner at Melchers Law Firm, and Dr. Christian Rapani, Partner at Rapani Rechtsanwälte.
The agenda will also include a discussion of online casino licensing and B2B opportunities in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany’s most populous state. Speakers will be Hans-Peter Kalenberg, Department Head at the NRW Ministry of the Interior, and Dr. Carsten Bringmann, Associate Partner at Noerr. Dr. Joerg Hofmann, Senior Partner at Melchers Law Firm, will moderate.
The full agenda is available on the event website. Gaming in Germany founder Willem van Oort said the market could see a significant expansion in permitted products, while also facing uncertainty over enforcement.
“The German market is certainly not a boring one,” van Oort said. “On the one hand, there appears to be room for a significant expansion in the range of permitted products. On the other hand, a recent ruling by the Halle Administrative Court calls into question the GGL’s entire legal authority to enforce the prohibition against unlicensed iGaming in Germany.”
Van Oort said the conference would bring together key stakeholders to discuss the future of the market for licensed operators, suppliers and other industry participants. He added that the event would address how the industry can help curb the illegal market.
The conference will take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Ku’damm in Berlin, about 100 meters from Kurfürstendamm. Registration is open.
