Ghanaians are reacting to the government’s introduction of a new tax on betting, games of chance, and lottery prizes.
The tax, which would apply to domestic competitors, will be 10% of all winnings. Betting companies operating in the country would also face a 20% tax on their revenue.
The revelation has received varied emotions from Ghanaians, with some welcoming the decision as a means of generating cash for the government and others criticising it as an additional burden on an already financially taxed populace.

I personally think the 10% withholding tax on betting wins is too small. If we want Ghana to get on the same level as the UK and USA we should be willing to sacrifice for the greater good.
