The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) and global sports giant IMG jointly announce IMG’s exclusive rights to distribute international media rights for CAF’s events in 85+ countries from 2023 to 2025. The exclusion of the MENA region and Sub Saharan Africa emphasizes a strategic focus for the distribution deal.

This groundbreaking agreement positions IMG as the key player in managing broadcast deals for two upcoming editions of the highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON): the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 and the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, along with the respective qualifiers.

IMG’s involvement extends beyond AFCON, covering various tournaments. They will handle media rights distribution for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Women Cup of Nations 2024, the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship, both the men and women’s CAF Champions League, TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2023/24, CAF Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations 2024, and the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations 2024, among others.

Robyn Cox, Vice President & Managing Director, Africa, for IMG’s media business, expresses enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the significance of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations as one of the continent’s premier sporting events.

Cox emphasizes IMG’s commitment to enhancing the global reach of CAF’s competitions and elevating the overall fan experience.

This deal solidifies IMG’s collaborative efforts with CAF, building on their recent appointment as the federation’s global sponsorship agency through 2025.

The partnership has already yielded a significant agreement with Puma to supply the official match ball for CAF-organized tournaments.

Beyond media distribution, IMG provides crucial support to CAF, offering marketing intelligence, data analysis, and consultancy services to shape the federation’s new commercial sponsorship strategy.

As the exclusive distributor of CAF’s international media rights, IMG is poised to play a pivotal role in expanding the reach and impact of African football on a global scale.

Football enthusiasts and fans alike can anticipate an enriched viewing experience as IMG works in tandem with CAF to unlock greater value from these prestigious events.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on this dynamic collaboration.
