The Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) has launched its new “ISJ in Dialogue” initiative with an institutional visit to gaming operator Primeira Aposta, marking a new phase in its strategy to strengthen collaboration, regulatory oversight, and engagement with licensed operators.
The visit, held on 21 July, reflects the regulator’s commitment to promoting a more transparent, responsible, and sustainable gaming industry through continuous dialogue with stakeholders.
The ISJ delegation was led by Director General Dr. Nerethz Tati, accompanied by the Head of the Department of Support to the Director General and senior officials from the institute’s various departments.
The delegation was welcomed by Primeira Aposta Chairman Dr. Hussein Aich, alongside members of the company’s executive leadership team.
Opening the meeting, Dr. Tati described ISJ in Dialogue as a modern approach to gaming regulation that places greater emphasis on cooperation between regulators and licensed operators.
According to the Director General, effective regulation requires more than enforcement. He stressed that listening to operators and understanding the realities of the market are equally important in building a strong regulatory framework.
“To regulate is also to listen, to supervise is also to understand.”
He added that continuous dialogue helps create an environment built on trust, transparency, and shared responsibility, ultimately supporting a healthier regulated gaming market.
During the meeting, Primeira Aposta presented an overview of its operations and business growth since 2020.
The operator outlined the compliance measures it has introduced to strengthen regulatory standards and detailed its strategy to professionalise its mediation network. This includes the gradual transition to the Mediadores Express model, which is based on company-owned establishments.
Primeira Aposta also highlighted its ongoing investment in mediator training and its commitment to corporate social responsibility initiatives.
As part of the discussions, the Gaming Supervision Institute encouraged Primeira Aposta to strengthen the standardisation of the branding and appearance of its authorised mediators.
According to ISJ, making authorised mediators easier for players to identify will improve transparency, reinforce confidence in licensed gaming services, and further strengthen the integrity of the regulated market.
The ISJ in Dialogue initiative forms part of the Gaming Supervision Institute’s broader institutional strategy to encourage regulatory compliance, promote industry best practices, and foster closer cooperation with licensed gaming operators.
By engaging directly with stakeholders, the regulator aims to build a more transparent, accountable, and sustainable gaming sector while supporting the long-term development of the regulated market.
