The Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) carried out an awareness campaign against illegal gambling at Mabunda Market on August 14. ISJ organized the action in coordination with the Municipal Samba Administration, targeting merchants trading in the Municipality of Samba.

Officials said the campaign aimed to alert merchants and citizens to the risks of illegal gambling, as well as its legal and social consequences.

Deputy Director-General Cláudio Paulo led the activity, assisted by Afonso Hermenegildo da Silva, Head of the Department of Supervision and Inspection. Da Silva told attendees that gambling businesses must comply with current legislation and obtain prior licensing before operating.

ISJ staff distributed leaflets and posters carrying messages on responsible gambling and prevention during the event.

The campaign forms part of ISJ’s wider supervision, inspection, and prevention efforts, which aim to build a gaming sector that is safe, responsible, and properly regulated, while protecting citizens, particularly the most vulnerable groups.

ISJ said it remains committed to strengthening awareness and prevention against illegal gambling nationwide, and to promoting respect for the law and greater citizen participation in the fight against the practice.
