According to Ithuba, the operator of the National Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at a retailer in Bergvliet, Cape Town. The lucky player spent just R70 and manually selected his numbers, often inspired by the birthdates of his loved ones.

Upon realizing he had hit the jackpot, the married father could hardly contain his excitement. “Now I’m a multi-millionaire,” he exclaimed. The pensioner, who plays the Lotto at least twice a week, has previously won small amounts but never anything close to this life-changing total. His first big personal purchase will be a new car.

However, he emphasizes the importance of managing his newfound wealth responsibly, focusing on long-term financial security. In celebration of his win, he also hopes to treat his wife to a well-deserved shopping spree.
