The Copperbelt Police have confirmed the death of a 50-year-old night watchman, Chivweta Kafwainda, whose body was discovered at a local Lottery Club in Luanshya.

According to Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Siandenge, Kafwainda’s body was found during routine security checks by Council Police Officer Fresher Mbewe. Upon arriving at the premises, Mbewe noticed that the main gate was locked, but an office door was open. With the assistance of his colleague Richard Lungu, He climbed over the gate and found Kafwainda inside the Lottery Hall.

“The deceased sustained fatal head injuries and was found lying in a pool of blood,” Commissioner Siandenge reported. Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident likely occurred between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. that morning. It appears that the suspects broke into an office but did not steal any valuables, raising questions about the motives behind the crime.

Kafwainda’s body has been sent to Thompson District Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. A criminal docket has been opened, and police investigations are ongoing. with no arrests made so far.
