Port Louis—Tensions are rising within Casino of Mauritius as employees express deep concern over the sudden dissolution of the committee responsible for coordinating staff activities. Allegations have surfaced that funds designated for employee engagement were potentially misappropriated, with no formal oversight in place to investigate the matter internally.
Brady Ponnusami, a long-serving employee, described the situation as “revolting and unacceptable.” He noted that the committee was dissolved on the very day he made his intention to speak out public.
In the absence of a functioning board of directors, employees have taken the extraordinary step of writing to both the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister. Their letter calls for immediate clarification and corrective measures to ensure transparency and accountability.
When contacted by phone, a spokesperson for the State Investment Corporation (SIC) confirmed that the committee was disbanded following a formal request by the employees’ union president. The SIC further assured that new elections would be held soon to establish a new committee and stated that the funds in question remain untouched.
The employees await a formal response from the authorities and call for swift action to restore confidence within the organization.
