The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has emphasized Uganda’s dedication to maintaining a safe, transparent, and well-regulated gambling industry during the 2nd National Court Open Day. Organized by the Judiciary of Uganda, this event provided a platform for public engagement, awareness-building, and collaboration aimed at strengthening justice delivery across the country.
At the event, held at Kololo Independence Grounds, the NLGRB showcased its regulatory mandate through an interactive exhibition. Visitors learned about the Board’s efforts to ensure that the gaming industry operates legally, fairly, and in a consumer-friendly manner. The exhibition featured confiscated gaming machines, brochures, and posters designed to educate the public about responsible gambling and consumer protection.
In a statement, the NLGRB reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Judiciary and other stakeholders. “The Board reaffirms its commitment to working closely with the Judiciary and other stakeholders to promote access to justice, uphold accountability, and ensure a safe and responsible gaming environment for all Ugandans,” the statement read.
The Board underlined the importance of public interaction, noting that the exhibition allowed visitors to gain first-hand insights into how gaming activities are regulated in Uganda. NLGRB officials engaged attendees on key regulatory areas, including licensing of gaming operators, compliance monitoring, player protection measures, and prosecution of illegal gaming operators.
Officials from the Standards, Wildlife and Utilities Court were present, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between the Judiciary and the NLGRB to safeguard the integrity of the gambling sector. Notable attendees included Justice Christopher Gashirabake of the Court of Appeal.
This engagement is part of the NLGRB’s broader efforts to strengthen Uganda’s regulated gambling industry. These initiatives include strategic partnerships with the Judiciary and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions aimed at enhancing enforcement against illegal gaming, establishing dedicated gaming offense courts, and promoting legal, responsible play nationwide.
