NLRC Counters Lagos State Gaming Authority Publication Clears 22Bet as Legal Operator in Nigeria

Nigeria’s National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) has officially cleared 22bet and 19 other sports betting and gaming operators.

This move comes in response to concerns raised by the recent Lagos State Lottery Authority, which had previously claimed that these operators were unlicensed.

The Director-General of the NLRC, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila, released the list of approved operators, which includes well-known names such as 22Bet, ZEBET, BETIKA, GOBET, MSPORT, AFRIBET, and BANGBET.

Other operators on the approved list are BETWAZOBIA, KORETBET, PARIPESA, LIVESCOREBET, BLACKBET/BETTY BINGO, CLOUDBET, HALLABET, N1BET, KONFAMBET, SCRATCH2WIN, NAIJABET, LOTTOMANIA, and MILLIONAIRE POWERPLAY.

Gbajabiamila emphasized that the NLRC has duly licensed these operators to conduct lottery and sports betting activities in Nigeria.

The NLRC’s decision to clear these operators aims to provide clarity and transparency in the sports betting and gaming industry.

Gbajabiamila stated, “It is therefore necessary for NLRC as the agency, created by law to regulate Lottery and Gaming in Nigeria, to clarify.”

He added that the NLRC’s comprehensive list of national gaming operators in the country is available on their official website, providing easy access for the public to verify the licensing status of these operators.

The NLRC expressed regret for any misconceptions that may have arisen due to the previous publication by the LSLGA, which had labelled these operators as “unlicensed and illegal.”

The NLRC’s decision to clear these operators reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that all gaming operators in Nigeria operate within the boundaries of the law.

This development is expected to boost confidence among operators and players in the Nigerian sports betting and gaming industry.

It also highlights the importance of regulatory bodies in ensuring fair and legal practices within the gambling sector.

Players and stakeholders in the industry can now refer to the NLRC’s official list to verify the legitimacy of gaming operators, ensuring a safe and regulated gaming environment in Nigeria.

The NLRC remains committed to its role as the regulatory authority for lottery and gaming activities in Nigeria, ensuring that all operators adhere to the necessary regulations and standards.

However, The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) recently announced an international gaming conference to boost lottery business slated for October 31 to the 1st of November 2023.
