The Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, has partnered with Genlot Game Technology and participated in the Huawei Executive Exchange in China.
This initiative aims to modernize Ghana’s lottery systems, extend services to rural areas, and combat unregulated paper-based operations.
The trip to China focused on advancing the NLA’s digital agenda, beginning in Shenzhen with a session at Genlot Game Technology’s headquarters.
Mr. Abdul-Salam met with senior executives from Genlot, including CEO Franz Liu and CTO Hui Shou, along with key members from their international business development and research teams.
Huawei representatives, including Meng Gencang, also participated in the discussions.
Genlot showcased a range of lottery innovations, particularly secure and scalable Point-of-Sale (POS) systems designed for low-infrastructure environments.
Mr. Abdul-Salam expressed strong interest in these technologies to digitize rural lottery operations and eliminate illegal ticket sales.
Huawei discussed the potential of integrating Genlot’s hardware with its cloud and cybersecurity infrastructure to create a secure operational ecosystem.
The NLA team also attended the Huawei Executive Exchange, featuring demonstrations by Huawei’s top experts.
Presentations highlighted how Huawei’s AI tools and cloud platforms could enhance efficiency, data protection, and service delivery in the public sector.
Next-generation solutions, including smart city integrations and 5G technologies, were showcased at Huawei’s exhibitions.
The Ghanaian delegation enjoyed cultural exchanges and facility tours in Dongguan and Shenzhen, visiting Huawei’s European Town campus and exploring the company’s innovation ecosystem.
Key takeaways from the visit included the importance of Genlot’s POS systems for expanding into rural areas and Huawei’s infrastructure for securing and scaling NLA operations.
Both companies expressed enthusiasm for collaborative pilot projects and capacity-building initiatives to drive innovation in Ghana’s lottery sector.
To advance these initiatives, the NLA will establish a technical committee to assess the proposed technologies. Discussions for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Huawei Ghana, led by Ian Zhu, are expected to begin soon.
A follow-up virtual session with Genlot’s international team will also be scheduled to finalize procurement timelines.
This partnership marks a significant step toward enhancing Ghana’s lottery systems and ensuring they are modern, secure, and accessible to all.
