The Rwanda Development Board (RDB), through its National Lottery and Gambling Commission (NLGC), has terminated Inzozi Lotto’s licence to operate the National Lottery, citing the company’s failure to meet contractual and regulatory obligations.
The decision, announced on Thursday, October 2, means that Inzozi Lotto (Carousel Ltd) must now settle all outstanding claims owed to players.
“Players who hold outstanding winning claims are advised that Inzozi Lotto (Carousel Ltd) remains responsible for settling all valid claims,” the RDB said in an official statement.
The NLGC will supervise the claims settlement process to ensure fairness, transparency, and full compliance with the law.
New Operator Selection Process to Begin Soon
The RDB announced that a competitive selection process to identify a new operator for the National Lottery will be launched in the coming days.
Officials emphasized that the process will follow a transparent and accountable framework aimed at safeguarding the public interest.
Regulatory Crackdown on Gaming Industry
This latest move comes amid a broader regulatory tightening in Rwanda’s gaming sector.
Last month, the RDB suspended the gaming licence of Kings Bet Ltd due to repeated violations of gaming laws and failure to comply with directives issued by the Board.
The RDB reiterated that all gambling operators in Rwanda must strictly comply with national laws and regulations, warning that non-compliance will not be tolerated.
