Saudi Arabia to Host 2023 TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup

In a joint announcement, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) have revealed that Saudi Arabia will host this year’s TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup on September 15.

The 2023 TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup Final will see a clash between Al Ahly SC, the reigning TotalEnergies CAF Champions League champions,

and Algeria’s Union Sportive de la Médina d’Alger (USMA), who are the champions of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

They have scheduled the match to take place at the iconic King Fahd Stadium in the city of Taif.

Veron Mosengo-Omba, the General Secretary of CAF, expressed excitement about bringing the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup to Saudi Arabia, acknowledging the country’s growing presence in global football.

He also thanked the Saudi Arabian Football family for their cooperation, emphasizing the significance of African football’s participation in the global football movement.

Ibrahim Alkassim, SAFF General Secretary, highlighted their commitment to collaborating with CAF in hosting events and organizing matches.

He noted that this event marks another milestone in their ongoing partnership and expressed gratitude to CAF for the opportunity.

Earlier this year, CAF and SAFF signed a groundbreaking five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering growth opportunities for African and Saudi football.

The MoU encompasses various initiatives, including technical and football development, grassroots football, women’s football, talent identification, competitions, friendly matches, and commercial prospects.

Both CAF and SAFF will announce details regarding ticketing and kick-off times for the event in due course.
