SportPesa, a leading sports betting company, has made a significant stride into professional golf by investing Ksh20 million (€122,000) as the exclusive betting partner for the much-anticipated 2026 Magical Kenya Open (MKO). This official DP World Tour event will take place at the prestigious Karen Country Club, marking SportPesa’s inaugural involvement in the sport.
This sponsorship not only signifies SportPesa’s commitment to diversifying its portfolio but also aims to elevate the overall stature of the MKO by increasing prize money and enhancing infrastructure. The 57th edition of the MKO, which took place from February 19 to 22, 2026, featured 144 golfers from over 25 countries competing for a substantial prize purse of Ksh348.3 million (€2.1 million). Kenyan players, including Njoroge Kibugu, showcased their skills on this international stage by making the cut and earning bonus payouts alongside renowned international golfers.
South African golfer Casey Jarvis clinched victory with a final-round score of 62, finishing three strokes ahead of Davis Bryant. The tournament not only highlighted the talents of seasoned professionals but also served as an inspiration for aspiring local golfers who witnessed elite-level competition up close.
