The Gambling Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of Moruntshi Kemorwale as the acting Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

This decision follows the sudden suspension of former CEO Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe, raising concerns across the industry.

The announcement was made through the Authority’s official communication channels and has been endorsed by the Ministry of Trade and Investment.

Before this role, Kemorwale served as the Authority’s Director of Responsible Gambling & Corporate Affairs. In this position, he successfully led initiatives to promote responsible gambling and ensure regulatory compliance.

His previous experience as Chief of Staff has provided him with in-depth knowledge of the Authority’s operational and strategic priorities.

Kemorwale also brings several years of diverse experience from various sectors, including mining, media, and marketing.

He has held senior positions, such as Chief of Communications at Morupule Coal Mine and Director of Communications at Litmus Media Botswana.

Kemorwale’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Botswana’s gambling industry, which is currently experiencing growth and adapting to evolving regulatory requirements and technological innovations.

As acting CEO, Kemorwale will take on full executive responsibilities, ensuring continuity in leadership as the organization navigates its current priorities.
