The young man, who has been betting on sports for over seven years, tells how the adventure has paid off for him.

He explained it wasn’t a hard gamble. It takes a lot of luck, but he can’t deny how beneficial it has been for him.

Francis told GhanaWeb TV that the income he has generated over the years has allowed him to build his two bedroom home for his mother.

He also owns his two barbershops at Dome Pillar 2 in Accra, which currently employs 14 people.

“Through this bet, I got the land on which I built her two-bedroom house. My mother lives there now. All thanks to the bet,”

he told GhanaWeb TV told his Etsey Atisu.

Francis and some friends of his who founded the Concerned Bettors of Ghana (CBOG) interacted with journalists about the new 10% sports betting tax introduced by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.

These young men admit to making some profit from their bets, but are aware of the government’s lax approach to expanding the tax base and making money.
