The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) participated in the 17th Annual Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF) Conference, held in Maputo, Mozambique, from September 14 to 17, 2026.

Held under the theme, “Regulating for Transformation – Safer Gambling. Smarter Regulation. Stronger African Collaboration,” the conference brought together gambling regulators, industry stakeholders, and thought leaders from across Africa to discuss developments shaping the continent’s gambling sector.

The WCGRB was represented on the GRAF Conference Organizing Committee and contributed to the conference programme, highlighting its continued commitment to regulatory cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration among African gambling regulators.

Participation in continental forums such as GRAF provides regulators with an opportunity to stay informed about emerging trends, technological developments, and evolving regulatory approaches within the gambling industry. The forum also facilitates peer learning, the exchange of regulatory experiences, and engagement with counterparts from different African jurisdictions.

As the gambling environment continues to evolve, greater cooperation among African regulators remains important in strengthening player protection and supporting the development of responsive, effective, and sustainable regulatory frameworks.

Through its participation in the GRAF Conference, the WCGRB reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to continental discussions on gambling regulation and supporting continued collaboration among regulators across Africa.
