The Zambia Gaming Association (ZGA) says it will not hesitate to shut down or deregister gambling operators who fail to comply with tax obligations and gambling regulations. ZGA President Noah Malungila said the association is aware of several operators who have evaded tax and have partnered with the Ministries of Finance and Local Government to strengthen compliance.

Mr. Malungila told journalists that both local and foreign operators will be visited to ensure they have their documentation in order and are not engaging in tax evasion. He added that the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has engaged the association to help address the situation, warning that those found wanting will have nowhere to hide.

He further noted that enforcement teams will intensify inspections across the country to ensure that all operators meet licensing and tax requirements. According to him, the aim is to protect the integrity of the gaming industry and ensure fair competition among operators. Meanwhile, ZGA General Secretary Darius Sinkamba said gambling is governed by clear rules and regulations, which some operators are deliberately ignoring despite being aware of them.

Mr. Sinkamba stressed that the ZGA will not shield anyone found on the wrong side of the law, reinforcing the association’s commitment to enforcement and accountability. He also urged operators to take compliance seriously and avoid practices that could damage the reputation of the sector. He emphasized that adherence to regulations is essential for sustainable growth and public trust in the gaming industry.
