Rwanda has launched InteGo, a national lottery intended to help mobilize domestic resources for development priorities while promoting digital services, transparency and responsible gambling.
The launch took place at Mövenpick Hotel Kigali and brought together representatives from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the National Lottery and Gambling Commission (NLGC), government institutions, and partners in the financial, telecommunications, technology and mobility sectors.
InteGo! is owned by the Government of Rwanda and regulated by the NLGC. Moja Rwanda Ltd, selected through a competitive process, operates the lottery. The government projects that the lottery will generate about US$37.6 million (RWF 55 billion) in proceeds. The funds are intended to support public-benefit initiatives in three priority areas: sports, health and culture.
InteGo! is designed as a digital lottery. Eligible players can participate through USSD, mobile money, the lottery’s website and mobile app. Authorized agents will also provide in-person assistance, but ticket issuance and payments will be processed digitally. Participation starts at RWF 100. Players can dial *759# or visit www.intego.rw.
The lottery’s first draw was held at the official launch. Daily Lotto 5/90 draws are scheduled to be broadcast live on Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) television from Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Broadcasts are scheduled for 7:40 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and 7:15 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The lottery’s initial games are Lotto 5/90 and Fata 12. Serge Nyombayire, Head of Gambling Licensing and Regulations at the NLGC, said the lottery marks a step toward a modern, regulated national lottery that can support investment in sports, health and culture.
He said the Commission’s priorities include integrity, transparency and responsible participation, supported by effective safeguards, public awareness and regulatory oversight. InteGo! takes its name from the Kinyarwanda word intego, meaning “a goal.” Its tagline, “Every Play Makes a Difference,” reflects the aim of directing a share of proceeds toward public priorities.
Daniel Mihizi, General Manager of Moja Rwanda Ltd, said the operator had invested in digital technology and operational systems to support secure, transparent and reliable service. He said the company would work with the NLGC to protect players and promote responsible gambling.
Participation is restricted to adults aged 18 and over. The platform includes spending limits and cooling-off options, and responsible-gambling messages will appear in advertising and public communications. Players can call the free gambling-support helpline at 2075. Those who wish to stop gambling can request to close their accounts.
The lottery is intended as entertainment, not as a source of income or a solution to financial difficulties. The NLGC, under the RDB, will oversee compliance, including the protection of minors and vulnerable people, the integrity of lottery operations and accountability in the management of proceeds. In the coming weeks, InteGo! teams plan to hold public engagements across Rwanda to explain how the lottery works, answer questions and promote responsible gambling.
