Bet9ja Sponsors Edo FA Cup, Boosting Football in State.

Bet9ja, a leading name in sports betting in Nigeria, has stepped in as the official sponsor of the Edo FA Cup, marking a significant milestone for football in Edo state. The announcement was made by Fred Newtown Erhunmwunse, the boss of the Edo State Football Association, during a press conference on Tuesday, March 6th, 2024.

Erhunmwunse expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “Edo FA Cup just scored another important goal. We now have a titled sponsor for the state FA cup. Bet9ja, a leading name in sports betting in Nigeria, this is massive and a big boost to football in Edo state. I am so happy to get an official sponsor as big as Bet9ja for the competition.”

The agreement between Edo FA and Betnaija, the owners of NPFL side Remo Stars, was reached after successful discussions with Chief Kunle Soname, the chairman and chief executive officer of Betnaija. As a result, the Edo FA Cup will now be known as the Bet9ja Edo FA Cup 2024 competition.

Highlighting the reasons behind his support, Chief Kunle Soname stated, “I am ready to support the Edo FA Cup because I have seen some good ideas and innovations that the present board has brought since they came on board last year. I will throw my weight fully behind them because they have done well in less than five months in office.” He also pledged financial assistance and support to the FA’s football activities, aiming to contribute to the development of football in the state.

During the announcement, Erhunmwunse took the opportunity to express his gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Bash Ali, the former GM of Kwara United FC, and Roland Inonojie, the FA boss of Ovia North East local government area, for their crucial roles in ensuring the success of the Edo FA Cup.

The eagerly anticipated Bet9ja Edo FA Cup is set to commence on March 10th, 2024, with matches scheduled to take place at the S&T Army Barracks in Ugbowo, Benin City, and the Western Boys High School Mini Sports Complex in Ikpoba Hill. A total of 31 teams will participate in the competition.

Football enthusiasts and stakeholders in Edo state are looking forward to an exciting tournament that will not only showcase the talent within the state but also elevate the stature of football in the region, thanks to the support of Bet9ja as the official sponsor of the Edo FA Cup.
