Betika Supports 33 Nzango Teams to Empower Women's Sport in DRC

Betika has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots sports and community development by supporting 33 Nzango teams across communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The initiative is aimed at contributing to the preservation and promotion of Nzango, one of Congo’s cherished traditional women sports. Beyond its sporting value, Nzango represents an important part of Congolese cultural heritage, promoting discipline, teamwork, community participation and women’s empowerment.

Through its support for the 33 teams, Betika seeks to create greater opportunities for women to participate in and compete through Nzango while helping ensure that the tradition continues to be passed down to future generations.

“Nzango is more than a sport. It is a reflection of our culture, heritage and the strength of Congolese women. Supporting these teams allows us to contribute to keeping this important tradition alive while creating opportunities for women and strengthening community participation,” Betika said.

The initiative forms part of Betika’s broader commitment to supporting grassroots and community sports. By investing in local sporting activities, the company aims to contribute to communities that play an important role in its growth while promoting initiatives that can generate positive social impact.

Betika believes that sport can serve as a powerful platform for bringing communities together, preserving cultural traditions and creating opportunities for participation and development.

With 33 teams and hundreds of women involved, the initiative highlights the important role grassroots support can play in safeguarding Nzango and ensuring its continued relevance among future generations of Congolese women.
