Chop Gaming Ltd, operating under the popular brand BetPawa in Uganda, recently secured the runners-up position at the Excel Award during the Taxpayers Appreciation Awards Ceremony organized by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

This prestigious event celebrates and honors top taxpayers who consistently exhibit exceptional commitment and adherence to tax regulations.

During the award ceremony, Mr. Allan Tumushabe, the Managing Director of ChopGaming in Uganda, expressed gratitude, stating, “This prestigious recognition is a testament to the outstanding contribution made by our company in the field of revenue mobilization and youth empowerment in Uganda.”

ChopGaming, founded by the renowned Nigerian singer and businessman Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, also known as Mr Eazi, has played a crucial role in shaping the betting industry through its subsidiary, BetPawa.

The company’s commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and responsible gambling has not only contributed to revenue mobilization but has also generated employment opportunities and fostered economic growth in the region.

Mr. Tumushabe emphasized, “ChopGaming remains committed to its mission of providing a safe, enjoyable, and responsible betting experience to its customers,” highlighting the company’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of compliance.

The Taxpayer Appreciation Season (TPAS), an initiative by URA, aims to promote service excellence and recognize compliant taxpayers for their significant role in revenue mobilization.

Juma Kisaame, Chairman of the Uganda Revenue Authority Board of Directors, commended compliant taxpayers for their contribution to the remarkable 100.23% revenue growth exhibited in the financial year 2022/2023.

Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, in a recent URA digital strategy launch, urged URA to increase the tax-to-GDP ratio from 14% to 20% in the next four years.

URA Commissioner General, John Musinguzi Rujoki, emphasized the importance of achieving this milestone to fund the national budget without relying on external donors.

The Taxpayers Appreciation Awards Ceremony, held at the URA Tower Nakawa, brought together industry leaders, private sector players, and government officials.

This recognition serves as motivation for ChopGaming to continue its pursuit of excellence and innovation in the betting industry, contributing to Uganda’s economic growth and revenue mobilization efforts.
