The Gambling Authority hosted a productive consultative meeting with casino operators last night at its offices in Gaborone. In order to foster a diversified, compliant, and safe gambling industry, the session served as a valuable platform for open discussions on key issues affecting the sector, including licensing processes, responsible gambling practices, compliance standards, and emerging trends in the gaming landscape.
The engagement also explored ways to enhance operational efficiency and ensure the long-term sustainability of the sector. Both the regulator and stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment for collaboration to industry growth, recognising the importance of a well-regulated and transparent gambling environment that balances business interests with social responsibility.
Mr. Bipin Awasthi, speaking on behalf of the Gaming Association of Botswana, expressed gratitude to the Authority for facilitating this open dialogue. He noted that such platforms are essential for strengthening communication, addressing challenges proactively, and building mutual trust between the regulator and operators. “We appreciate the opportunity to share our views directly with the Authority. Continued consultation ensures that industry developments are informed by both regulatory objectives and operational realities,” said Mr. Awasthi.
Gambling Authority Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe, reiterated the Authority’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with all licensees. He assured attendees that the concerns and proposals raised during the meeting would be addressed with diligence and transparency, adding that the Authority values constructive feedback as it works to continuously improve its regulatory framework.
Mr. Kesitilwe said “Dialogue such as this helps us collectively identify areas for improvement, align our efforts, and uphold the highest standards of integrity in the industry”. he added “We encourage ongoing partnerships that contribute to the development of a thriving, inclusive, and responsibly regulated gaming sector in Botswana.”
The Gambling Authority emphasized that it will continue hosting such engagements across other segments of the industry, reinforcing its role as a progressive regulator that supports innovation while safeguarding public interest.
