Ghana Football Association Bans Betting Company from Domestic Leagues Wagers

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a comprehensive directive that applies to all levels of domestic football and prohibits any betting company from involving in related activities. This includes the Ghana Premier League, Division One League, Women’s Premier League, and all other sanctioned competitions under the GFA’s jurisdiction.

The directive is part of the GFA’s broader integrity strategy aimed at protecting matches from manipulation, undue influence, and corruption. With the 2025/26 football season approaching, the GFA is intensifying efforts to strengthen governance, promote fair play, and maintain public confidence in the sport.

The GFA emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that could compromise the credibility of Ghanaian football. The Association is calling on the general public, football stakeholders, clubs, and match officials to actively participate in safeguarding the sport.

All parties are encouraged to report any violations or suspicious activities, with assurances of confidentiality and prompt action. “Strict legal and regulatory measures will be taken against any individual or group found guilty of breaching this directive,” the FA noted.

This initiative complements a series of integrity reforms introduced by the GFA ahead of the upcoming season. These measures include: enhanced monitoring of match officiating, collaboration with law enforcement and integrity units, comprehensive education for players, referees, club officials on ethics and fair play, improved technological tools to track betting patterns and irregularities.

The association’s commitment to creating a transparent, competitive, and respected football environment. “The future of Ghana football depends on the trust of our fans and the integrity of our competitions. This policy is a firm step in the right direction,” GFA President stated.

The directive is expected to remain in place indefinitely as part of the GFA’s long-term plan to ensure that Ghanaian football upholds the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
