Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has firmly dismissed allegations regarding the misuse of a GH¢90,000 support package received from the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

In a statement to journalists, Gomashie clarified that the funds were allocated under the NLA’s Corporate Social Responsibility Fund to rehabilitate the Anoenu Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in her constituency. She emphasized that the money was used solely for its intended purpose and not for personal gain.

“That was exactly what I used the money for; not a dime was spent by me. It is absurd for anyone to suggest that I would take state money for myself,” Gomashie stated at the facility.

The GH¢90,000 support helped remodel the health post into a functional facility that meets the reproductive health needs of residents. “I inherited a one-room facility from my predecessor, with just a shed in front. I was able to use those funds effectively to build extra rooms, provide medical equipment, and construct a water closet,” she explained.

The project also included the provision of sanitary pads, medical equipment, and the installation of a borehole to ensure the clinic has access to potable water. “Initially, we planned to buy a polytank for the community to store water for the clinic. However, the municipal assembly engineer advised that a borehole would be a more effective solution to ensure access to clean water,” she noted.

Dzifa Gomashie reaffirmed that the entire amount provided by the NLA was dedicated to upgrading the health facility, significantly improving healthcare delivery in the community.
